Daily-living support

An agreed package may include meal preparation, drinks, light domestic routines connected to care, laundry, bed making, shopping lists, correspondence, appointments and prompts that help the person organise their day.

Companionship with purpose

Companionship should be shaped around the person’s preferences. It may involve conversation, music, games, reading, a hobby, a walk or simply having a familiar person present. Staff should not impose activities or treat companionship as passive supervision.

Community access

Support may include attending appointments, visiting local places, taking part in faith or cultural activities and maintaining important relationships. The care plan should cover transport, mobility, money handling, communication, risks and what the person wants to achieve.

Promoting participation

Staff should encourage the person to make choices and take part at the level they prefer. This may mean giving prompts, breaking tasks into manageable steps or providing physical assistance. The aim is not to create dependence where the person can participate safely.

How this service is arranged

Companionship, daily-living or community support can be considered as part of an assessed package, including direct-payment and private-care arrangements. We confirm whether the requested visit pattern and tasks are operationally suitable before accepting the service.
