What a direct payment is
A direct payment is money provided by a local authority or another authorised body so that an eligible person can arrange agreed support. The funding body sets the rules, approved outcomes and any personal contribution.

How care begins
A direct payment can give you more control over how eligible support is arranged. MoreLoved Care can consider direct-payment packages where the proposed care, budget, agreement and invoicing arrangements are clear.
Who this is for
Direct-payment users, families, brokers and social workers
What you will learn
Understand choice, contracting, invoicing and responsibilities when arranging care through a direct payment.
Speak with us
0115 681 2514A direct payment is money provided by a local authority or another authorised body so that an eligible person can arrange agreed support. The funding body sets the rules, approved outcomes and any personal contribution.
You can contact us directly or ask a social worker, broker or representative to assist. We assess the care needs and confirm whether the proposed visit pattern and tasks can be provided within the available budget and our current capacity.
The agreement should state what MoreLoved Care will provide, visit times and durations, rates, invoicing, cancellations, changes, reviews, notice and who is responsible for monitoring the budget. Funding approval does not replace the need for safe care planning.
Invoices identify the agreed service period, visits or hours, applicable rate and amount due. You should keep invoices and funding records according to the requirements of the body providing the direct payment.
We will explain the difference rather than reducing essential care without agreement. The person may need to speak to the social worker or funding body, consider another package or decide whether a private contribution is possible.
Using a direct payment does not reduce your right to respectful care, clear information, privacy, safeguarding, complaints or service review. You remain involved in decisions about your support.
Answers

Yes, where they have the appropriate authority and the arrangement is recorded.
A mixed package can be considered, with the funding and private elements clearly separated in the agreement and invoices.
We can communicate with the funding body where authorised, but the person remains responsible for any obligations attached to their direct payment unless another arrangement is formally agreed.
Yes, following reassessment, funding agreement and confirmation that MoreLoved Care can provide the revised support.
