How care begins

Clear information about funding before care begins

Care may be paid for privately, through a local-authority arrangement, with a direct payment, through NHS funding or through a combination of routes. We explain the proposed charges and responsibilities before asking anyone to agree to a service.

Private care

A self-funder pays MoreLoved Care directly under a service agreement. Following assessment, we provide the proposed visit pattern, current rates, any additional agreed costs, invoicing arrangements, payment terms, cancellation terms and review process.

Local-authority funding

A local authority may assess eligible needs and arrange or contribute towards support. The authority decides eligibility and financial contribution. MoreLoved Care cannot determine entitlement, but we can discuss a proposed package and respond to authorised referrals.

Direct payments and personal budgets

Where a person receives a direct payment or manages a personal budget, they may have more choice over the provider. The agreed package still needs to be affordable, safe and clearly contracted. The council or funding body can explain the person's responsibilities.

NHS and Continuing Healthcare funding

Some packages are funded wholly or partly by the NHS, including Continuing Healthcare or children and young people's continuing-care arrangements. The NHS or relevant integrated care body determines eligibility and authorises the package.

What affects the cost

Cost may depend on visit length, number of staff, time of day, weekends or public holidays, travel or mileage where applicable, overnight model, required skills and the agreed tasks. Current prices are provided directly in the assessment and service-agreement process rather than relying on an undated website figure.

Financial safeguards

Staff must follow approved arrangements for shopping, cash, cards, receipts and the person's property. Care workers should not borrow, lend, accept inappropriate gifts, change financial arrangements or become involved in wills or private transactions.

Questions to ask before agreeing

Ask what is included, what may be charged separately, how changes are authorised, how invoices are checked, what happens if a visit is cancelled and who to contact about a billing question.
