01

The work

Community care can be rewarding and demanding. Staff travel between people’s homes, work independently at times, provide personal and practical support, manage time, record care and respond calmly when circumstances change.

02

Our care ethos

The person is more than a task list. Staff should know what matters to them, encourage participation, protect privacy and communicate respectfully with families and professionals.

03

Support from the organisation

Depending on role and stage, support includes induction, shadowing or observed practice, supervision, training, access to policies, coordination, debriefing and management guidance.

04

Speaking up

Staff must report unsafe practice, safeguarding, medication error, missed care, deterioration, environmental risk, bullying, discrimination or record concerns. A culture of silence is not compatible with safe care.

05

Professional boundaries

Care workers should be warm without becoming personally or financially entangled. Staff do not borrow money, arrange private work, accept inappropriate gifts, share confidential information or use the relationship for personal benefit.

06

Fairness and conduct

Concerns are considered fairly and proportionately. Minor issues may be addressed through support and coaching; serious matters may require investigation, suspension, safeguarding, referral or disciplinary action.

07

Your wellbeing

Staff should report workload, safety or wellbeing concerns. Employee welfare matters alongside service-user safety, and a package may need review where working conditions become unsafe or unsustainable.

Answers

Some community roles involve lone working after the appropriate competence and package preparation. Risks and contact arrangements are assessed.

Will I have supervision?+

Yes. Supervision and quality checks form part of the employment and competency framework.

What if I am asked to do a task I am not trained for?+

Do not undertake it. Contact the appropriate manager and explain the competence or instruction gap.

How are staff concerns handled?+

Use supervision, management, grievance, whistleblowing, safeguarding or incident routes according to the issue.

Can I work privately for a client outside MoreLoved Care?+

Unauthorised private work or diversion of company business is prohibited and can create serious boundary, insurance and safeguarding risks.
