01

The whole person

A care need is never the whole story. We ask about the person’s routines, identity, relationships, culture, faith, interests, strengths and what matters to them. This information belongs in care planning, not only in an introductory conversation.

02

Dignity and independence

Dignity includes privacy, respectful language, choice, control over the home and being given enough time. Independence may mean completing a task, directing support, choosing who is involved or continuing an important activity.

03

Warm relationships, professional boundaries

Care can be friendly and familiar while remaining professional. Staff protect confidentiality, follow the care plan, avoid inappropriate financial or personal relationships and speak up when something is unsafe.

04

Listening and responding

We listen at enquiry, assessment, visits and review. Feedback, complaints and changes should lead to action, not simply be recorded. The person should know who is responsible and what will happen next.

05

Accountability

Staff record care honestly, work within competence and escalate concerns. Managers review risks, missed care, medication, incidents, complaints, safeguarding and staffing, then assign and verify actions.

06

Growing responsibly

We want the organisation to develop, but new services must not move ahead of registration, workforce preparation, accessible information and operational readiness. Honest status information is part of respectful care.
